Mayne goes 4-for-4, Missions Move to 29-17
|
It was a good time at Texans Stadium, where fans came to watch the Walla Walla Warriors and San Antonio Missions get after it.
The San Antonio Missions stopped the Walla Walla Warriors, 13-4, at Texans Stadium. The Missions got a big game from Brent Mayne, who was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Joe Magrane picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-3. He struck out 5 in 8 innings.
With San Antonio leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Mayne hit a slider from Gene Nelson for a 2-run single. It was his 12th hit of the season and put the Missions ahead, 5-2.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Mayne told the San Antonio Daily News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
The Missions have an impressive 29-17 record.
