The Round Rock Express got a superb performance from pitcher Pat Mahomes. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tucson. The Tarantulas won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Mahomes was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The 4th-place Tarantulas raised their record to 22-23.

One significant at-bat for Tucson came with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the seventh. Tarantulas right fielder Tim Costo hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Tucson go on to win.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Costo said.
