Benard has 4 hit night, Brass Move to 37-14
The New Orleans Brass trumped the San Antonio Missions, 12-5, at Texans Stadium. New Orleans center fielder Marvin Benard was named player of the game for his performance. He was 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 4 runs. Jimmy Jones got credit for the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. The Brass own a robust 37-14 mark.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Steve Gibralter was at the plate when New Orleans scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Brass to go in front, 6-5.

"I had some good swings out there," said Benard.
