Staton Helps Buzz Defeat Storm Chasers, 7-5
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz beat the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-5, at Maples Stadium. Dave Staton went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The 27-year old first baseman was a menace to Omaha all day. Salt Lake City's record now stands at 31-21, placing them first in the Pacific West.
With Salt Lake City leading 5-2 in the top of the ninth, Staton hit a 2-run single off Omaha hurler Pete J. Smith. It was the 21st hit of the season for Staton and put his team ahead, 7-2.
Staton told a Salt Lake City Citizen reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
