Storm Chasers Roll Over Buzz, 10-3
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers picked up a win at Maples Stadium, knocking off the Salt Lake City Buzz, 10-3. Starting pitcher Pete J. Smith, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Smith, now 6-2. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. This win makes it 6 in a row for Omaha.
Omaha first baseman Phil B. Clark laid a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 14th home run of the season. With it, the Storm Chasers took a 2-0 lead.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Smith.
