Senators Get Past New York for 5-4 Win
Washington beat New York at RFK Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to shortstop Alex Rodriguez, who earned player of the game honors. Washington reliever Tim Burke was credited with the win, to go to 1-5. Lee Smith took the loss for New York. The Senators, with only their 6th win in 23 games, could be the worst team in the league.

Alvin Davis was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Senators designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This place was rockin'," said Rodriguez.
