Warriors Stun Brass, 8-7
|
The Walla Walla Warriors bested the New Orleans Brass, 8-7, at Bay Hawks Ballpark. Allen Battle was named player of the game. He was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Terry Mathews closed the game out for Walla Walla, earning his 11th save. The Warriors bumped their record to 27-27 with this latest triumph.
Walla Walla used the timely hitting of Darrell Sherman to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warriors on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sherman told the Walla Walla News. "It's as simple as that."
