The New Orleans Brass got a stellar performance from pitcher Vaughn Eshelman, who handcuffed the Tacoma offense en route to a 4-2 win at Premont Grounds. The winning pitcher was Eshelman, now 5-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The Rainiers, now 33-24, have lost 4 straight.

New Orleans used the timely hitting of Jeff Branson to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brass on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Eshelman.
