Martinez Helps Rainiers Run Win Streak to 3
|
Tacoma played host to New Orleans at the friendly confines of Premont Grounds.
The Tacoma Rainiers relied on the hitting of left fielder Chito Martinez to stop the New Orleans Brass, 14-7. For the game, Martinez was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Greg Keagle went 6 innings for Tacoma to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 earned runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record improves to 4-2.
The Rainiers extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs and the bases loaded, Russ Davis hit a grand slam to make it 11-2, Tacoma.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Davis told a Tacoma Observer reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
Tacoma is now riding a 3-game win streak.
