The Colorado Rockies knocked off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-6, at Dodger Stadium. Gary Disarcina was named player of the game for Colorado. He produced 1 single and 1 double, while scoring 1 run and driving in 2. Orel Hershiser was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The Dodgers fall to 7-16 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1995 season.
Colorado used the bat of Juan Gonzalez to get the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rockies ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Colorado manager JD Morris.
