Lazy Fisherman Fall Short at New Orleans
|
The New Orleans Brass did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Naperville Lazy Fisherman at Bay Hawks Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Paul Wagner, who captured player of the game honors. New Orleans reliever Luis Aquino picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Scott Arnold took the loss. New Orleans, at 36-25, occupies first place in the Pacific Central.
The Brass got a big at-bat from left fielder Ruben Sierra. For the game, Sierra was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 95th hit of the season gave New Orleans a 5-4 lead.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Naperville manager .
