Victory Pushes Missions Record to 35-27
|
Colorado Springs got a terrific performance from pitcher Frank Viola, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Antonio Missions. San Antonio won the Motors Ballpark contest, 8-5. Viola was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. Marty Bystrom was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. With the win, San Antonio has a record of 35-27. Colorado Springs falls to 22-40.
In the top of the fifth, San Antonio center fielder David Green had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Colorado Springs hurler Frank Viola, Green reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. That made the score 1-0, San Antonio . For the day, Green was 2 for 4 with a double.
