Devil Rays Fall to .500 After Loss to Spiders
The Cleveland Spiders bested the Orlando Devil Rays by a score of 8-5, with center fielder Marquis Grissom getting the main credit. On the day, Grissom went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Spiders. The Devil Rays drop to 12-12 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1997 season.

Kevin Mitchell, who led the FL in wins above replacement with 7.5 in 1984, helped out the Cleveland cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a walk.
