Brass Stymie Nashville, Take 8-1 Win
|
New Orleans Brass starter LaTroy Hawkins pitched effectively against the Nashville Sounds at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 8-1 win. The first-place Brass improved to 41-29.
Wilson Delgado had a big run-scoring single for the Brass in the bottom of the third inning. With New Orleans leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Paul Wilson and stroked the single to right. It was his 71st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Brass ahead, 3-1.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Delgado told the New Orleans Bulletin.
