Cubs Turn Back Texas, 3-2
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs grabbed a win, 3-2, at Wrigley Field, overcoming a fine effort from Texas pitcher Jason Bere. Bere went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. The Rangers, now 7-17, continue their poor start.
The Cubs beat the Rangers with some clutch hitting. The single by Tom Goodwin in the bottom of the sixth is a good example. With two down, Goodwin gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he came through with the big hit.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Goodwin told the Chicago Chronicle. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
