Royals Subdue Chicago, 3-2
|
Kansas City rode a good effort from starter Mark Guthrie to beat the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The final score was 3-2. Kansas City reliever Kevin Rogers picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Teddy Higuera shouldered the loss. John Habyan got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Kansas City used the bat of Jeff Frye to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Royals ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Chicago manager Anthony Perez said following the tough loss.
The Royals keep rolling, raising their record to 15-9.
