Storm Chasers Jolt Rainiers with Late Rally
|
The Tacoma Rainiers got a superb performance from pitcher Brad Rigby. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Omaha. The Storm Chasers won the game, 8-7. In spite of the loss, Rigby was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Omaha reliever Roberto Duran was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Tavo Alvarez. The 5th-place Storm Chasers have won 6 in a row.
Danny Clyburn was the walk-off hero for Omaha. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Storm Chasers right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager , "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
