|
Sounds designated hitter Carlos Mendoza put his stamp on his team's 7-4 win over the Salt Lake City Buzz. Mendoza went 4 for 5 with 4 singles for Nashville in the contest. Nashville reliever Dario Veras picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Mark Acre was saddled with the loss. Nashville is third in the Pacific Central with a record of 39-34.
Nashville took a 5-4 lead on Raul Casanova's 64th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Casanova hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Salt Lake City pitcher Donnie Elliott shaking his head.
Casanova said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
