The Los Angeles Dodgers did just enough to sneak past the San Francisco Giants, 4-3, at Candlestick Park. Los Angeles pitcher Roger Clemens earned player of the game honors. Los Angeles reliever Scott Radinsky was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Randy Myers took the loss for San Francisco. The win takes Los Angeles to 1-1.
Los Angeles first baseman Shawn Green had a key at-bat for the Dodgers in the top of the tenth inning. Facing left-hander Randy Myers, Green hit a solo home run. It put Los Angeles in front, 4-3. For the day, Green was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said San Francisco skipper Alen Maglajac, "and it cost us."
