Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Charlie Hayes, the New Orleans Brass defeated the Salt Lake City Buzz, 6-3. Hayes went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Brass. Brian Barnes got the win, improving to 9-5. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 4.

With the clubs tied 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth and runners on 1st and 3rd, third baseman Jeff Branson, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1991 draft, reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.

Hayes called the win "a collective effort."
