Rainiers Come Back Late to Top Lazy Fisherman
|
Naperville got a terrific performance from designated hitter David Bell, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tacoma Rainiers. Tacoma won the Ballpark of Milton contest, 11-9. Bell was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 4-6 with 4 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner was Jeff Wallace in relief. His record improves to 4-7. Cory Bailey took the loss. Tacoma is last in the Pacific West with a record of 32-52.
Tacoma used a timely hit from Greg Norton to get the win. The shortstop delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainiers on top, 10-9. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Norton.
