Brass Win in Extras

Fans got some free baseball at Motors Ballpark.
In a tight game between the New Orleans Brass and the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, pitcher LaTroy Hawkins was terrific on the mound. The New Orleans right-hander was named the player of the game in New Orleans's 2-1 win. New Orleans has 4 straight wins, Colorado Springs 3 straight losses.
Ruben Sierra's at-bat in the top of the 12th was significant, coming with the bases empty and the game tied, 1-1. The New Orleans left fielder hit a solo home run off Mike Butcher to put the Brass up.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Hawkins said.
