Tacoma Makes It 6 Straight with 8-5 Win
|
The Tacoma Rainiers downed the New Orleans Brass, 8-5, at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The Rainiers were led by Russ Davis, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tacoma reliever Tanyon Sturtze picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jimmy Jones absorbed the loss. Tacoma has now won 6 games in a row.
Tacoma used the clutch hitting of Ron Coomer to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Rainiers the lead, 5-4. For the game, Coomer had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Rainiers manager , "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
