Brass Turn Back Rainiers, 6-5

The New Orleans Brass beat the Tacoma Rainiers, 6-5, at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The Brass got a fine performance from second baseman Jason Bates, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. New Orleans reliever Matt Whiteside picked up the win, upping his record to 5-4. Shawn Boskie took the loss. New Orleans bumps their record to 60-32 with the win.
New Orleans grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the seventh, when Bates, who is rated as the 96th best prospect by BNN, hit a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Brass out in front, 6-4.
"I had some good swings out there," said Bates.
