River Rats Get Road Win, 7-5
|
The Spokane River Rats picked up a win at Maples Stadium, knocking off the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-5. On the mound for Spokane was right-hander Jeff C D'Amico, who played a pivotal role in the win. D'Amico got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. D'Amico allowed 2 earned runs. Matt Whisenant, credited with the save, is now 19 for 22 in save opportunities.
Spokane grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth when Mark Dalesandro hit a run-scoring single. For the day, Dalesandro went 4-5 with 4 singles.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said D'Amico. "Successful pitchers do it."
The first-place River Rats, at 59-34, now lead their division by 6 games.
