Extra-Inning Win by Buzz over Sky Fox
|
The Buzz faced a stiff challenge from Colorado Springs pitcher Jason Schmidt, but persevered to claim a win at Motors Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. Schmidt went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Tim Pugh, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities. Even with the win, the Buzz have a dismal 14-80 record.
The Sky Fox had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Buzz going into the top of the 16th inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Robert Perez came to the plate. Perez hit a run-scoring single on a 2-0 fastball from Colorado Springs hurler Archie Corbin. It was Perez's 103rd hit of the year.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant , the Salt Lake City manager.
