Belle scores 3 runs, Senators Move to 18-6
|
Spirited fans at Shea Stadium greeted the New York Mets for their clash with the Washington Senators.
With designated hitter Albert Belle leading the charge, the Washington Senators defeated the New York Mets, 13-6, at Shea Stadium. Belle, who finished 5th in the UL in extra base hits with 70 in 1992, went 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The Senators, now 18-6, have been on fire in the early going.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Ray Durham, the 25-year old second baseman . Durham contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Washington up, 2-0.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Durham after the game.
