Tigers Edge Orioles, 2-1
|
The Detroit Tigers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Kevin Gross, who muffled the Baltimore offense en route to a tight 2-1 Tigers win at Memorial Stadium. Rigo Beltran earned the save for Detroit, his 4th of the year. Detroit is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 9th in 24 games.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Ben Grieve, the 20-year old left fielder . Grieve contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put Detroit up, 2-1.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Grieve said.
