Big Day for Marrero as Sounds Down Chukars, 13-5
|
The Nashville Sounds relied on the hitting of center fielder Eli Marrero to stop the Idaho Falls Chukars, 13-5. For the game, Marrero was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Nashville reliever Cliff Young picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-2. Phil Leftwich was collared with the loss. Their 50-49 record puts the Sounds third in the Pacific Central.
Felix Martinez, who is tied for 4th in the PAC in triples with 7, aided the Nashville cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Marrero.
