Storm Chasers Take Tight Tilt
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers and Colorado Springs Sky Fox played a tight game at Maples Stadium, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Omaha Storm Chasers and the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, Pete J. Smith was the difference-maker. The Omaha right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Tony J. Castillo, credited with the save, is now 21 for 22 in save opportunities.
The Sky Fox had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Storm Chasers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old catcher Henry Blanco came to the plate. Blanco hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch fastball from Colorado Springs hurler Mike Butcher. It was Blanco's 89th hit of the year.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Blanco said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
Omaha now has a 3-game win streak.
