It was a fun time at Motors Ballpark, where the San Antonio Missions and Colorado Springs Sky Fox tangled.
San Antonio got a terrific performance from pitcher Les Lancaster, but it wasn't enough to beat the Colorado Springs Sky Fox. Colorado Springs won the Motors Ballpark contest, 4-3. Lancaster was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Colorado Springs is now 32-69.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Colorado Springs right fielder Fumikazu Takanami, facing Brad Clontz, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Sky Fox the 4-3 win.
San Antonio manager said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
