River Rats Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Spokane River Rats defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, 5-3, in Pacific action at Motors Ballpark, with Spokane pitcher Rick Helling named player of the game. Spokane reliever Doug Brocail picked up the win, upping his record to 6-2. Antonio Alfonseca took the loss. The River Rats own a robust 66-36 mark.
This game was not decided until Doug Brady came to bat in the top of the tenth. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, the Spokane first baseman reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run. The River Rats took the lead, 4-3.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Helling. "I like it."
