Tarantulas Continue Skid Thanks to Fasano, Buzz
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Tucson Tarantulas, 9-3, at Ballpark of Louisville. Salt Lake City catcher Sal Fasano was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Mike Oquist got the win, improving to 5-6. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The Tarantulas, at 49-53, have lost 5 straight games.
Salt Lake City used the timely hitting of Brian Johnson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Buzz on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Fasano, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
