Missions Edge Past Brass, 2-1
|
The New Orleans Brass got a superb performance from pitcher Paul Wagner. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Antonio . The Missions won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Wagner was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win was Mauro Gozzo's in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Paul Wagner took the loss for New Orleans. San Antonio now sits at 61-45, while New Orleans falls to 64-42.
San Antonio used the timely hitting of Mike Lansing to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Missions on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Lansing said.
