The Kansas City Royals managed to get by the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6, at Royals Stadium. Kansas City catcher Rick Wilkins took player of the game honors. Kevin Brown earned the win for Kansas City. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 17-7. Justin Thompson was credited with the save.
