Tigers Snatch 3-2 Win
|
RFK Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Washington Senators and Detroit Tigers.
Andy Pettitte could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Washington Senators lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Detroit Tigers at RFK Stadium. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 42-94 record.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Alex Arias, the 29-year old second baseman . Arias contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Detroit up, 2-1.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Tigers manager Julio Izquierdo. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
