Dodgers Fall to .500 After Loss to Athletics
The Los Angeles Dodgers wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Bill Pulsipher, falling 1-0 to the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. Jason Bere earned his 28th save in 33 chances. The win puts the Athletics at 60-76, while the Dodgers drop to 69-69.

Greg Vaughn drove in one run for Oakland. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Pulsipher. It was his 19th RBI of the season.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Vaughn.
