Great Effort by Villanueva Wasted in 9-7 Blue Jays Loss
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a sterling performance from catcher Hector Villanueva, but the Mets still prevailed, 9-7. Villanueva was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. New York has a 4-game win streak, while Toronto has lost 3 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Lance Johnson, the two-time Gold Glove winner . Johnson contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put New York up, 5-1.
"We got the victory," said Johnson. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
