Diamondbacks Win at San Diego, 5-2
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Robin Ventura, the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Diego Padres, 5-2. Ventura went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times for the Diamondbacks. Scott Sanders earned the win to go to 13-9. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Marvin Freeman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
A key moment came with two out in the top of the sixth. That's when Diamondbacks second baseman Delino DeShields hit a slider from Robb Nen for a 2-run single, putting Arizona up, 5-2.
