Los Angeles right fielder Shawn Green was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Colorado beat the Dodgers, 5-4. Green was named the player of the game despite the loss. Mike Timlin, credited with the save, is now 26 for 34 in save opportunities. With the win over Los Angeles, the Rockies improved to 57-81.

Had Todd Pratt not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Pratt hit a solo home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rockies.

"I was a little disappointed," said Los Angeles manager Andrew Cole. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
