The Walla Walla Warriors scored a 4-3 win versus the Salt Lake City Buzz at Bella Vista Grounds. Walla Walla pitcher Gene Nelson nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. In 7 innings, Nelson surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. The win boosts the Warriors to 44-61. The loss puts the Buzz at 15-90.
It could have been a different outcome for Walla Walla, had it not been for Ed Giovanola, the 21-year old third baseman . Giovanola contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Walla Walla up, 4-1.
Giovanola called the triumph "a good team win."
