River Rats Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-4 at Naperville
|
Naperville got a terrific game from catcher Ron Karkovice. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Spokane, 6-4. Karkovice was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ricky Trlicek notched his 5th save in 12 chances. Spokane is 5th in the Pacific West with a record of 39-67.
Spokane relied on the hitting of Greg Briley to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the third inning to put the River Rats on top, 2-1. For the game, Briley had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Briley said.
