Rainiers Win at Colorado Springs, 9-4
|
The Tacoma Rainiers beat the Colorado Springs Sky Fox, 9-4, at Motors Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Ron Coomer, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Jeff Ware picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 7-2. John Wetteland was tagged with the loss. The Rainiers raised their record to 56-50.
The Rainiers scored in the top of the seventh when Tim Hyers hit a 2-run single to make the score 8-4, Tacoma.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Hyers.
