Storm Chasers Prevail, 5-4, Over Round Rock
|
Omaha first baseman Alvin Davis played a vital role in his team's 5-4 triumph over Round Rock. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Omaha. Jeff Sellers got the win, improving to 7-8. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Dave Veres, credited with the save, is now 23 for 27 in save opportunities.
Davis had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the second when the 35-year old first baseman hit a 2-run single. The single gave Omaha the lead, 3-1. It was his 128th hit of the season.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Omaha manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
The 5th-place Storm Chasers now have a 5-game winning streak.
