Brass Prove Rude Guests, Win 7-1 at Naperville
|
New Orleans starter LaTroy Hawkins pitched effectively against the Naperville Lazy Fisherman at Ballpark of Milton. The right-hander led his team to a 7-1 win. Hawkins went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 12-9. With the victory, the Brass record now stands at 60-52.
The Brass got an important contribution from third baseman Jeff Branson, who in the top of the fourth punched a first pitch forkball into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 24th double of the season and put the Brass ahead, 3-0.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Hawkins told the New Orleans Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
