The Salt Lake City Buzz got a stellar performance from pitcher Mike Birkbeck, who handcuffed the New Orleans offense en route to a 4-1 win at Bella Vista Grounds. Todd Frohwirth, credited with the save, is now 9 for 12 in save opportunities. Even with the win, the Buzz have a dismal 19-94 record.

The Buzz got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dave Staton. For the game, Staton was 1 for 3 with a walk. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 58th hit of the season gave Salt Lake City a 2-1 lead.

"Nice to get this one," said Birkbeck. "Wins have been hard to come by."
