River Rats Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Spokane designated hitter Larry Sheets was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the Tacoma Rainiers. Sheets, who is tied for 6th in the PAC in home runs with 21, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the River Rats. Spokane reliever Marc Valdes picked up the win, upping his record to 7-1. Tanyon Sturtze was saddled with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Spokane.
With the clubs tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh and runners on 1st and 3rd, Spokane sent Sheets to the plate. He got a first pitch curveball and hit a 3-run home run, to put the River Rats on top, 6-3.
"I had some good swings out there," said Sheets.
