Stag Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Buzz
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Portland Stag and the Salt Lake City Buzz, Bill C. Swift was the difference-maker. The Portland right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Portland reliever Dilson Torres was the winner. His record is now 4-3. Paul Spoljaric took the loss. The save was Mike Hartley's, his 10th.
One of the stars of the game was Portland shortstop Alex S Gonzalez. In the bottom of the eighth with two out, he got a slider from Paul Spoljaric and hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2 in favor of the Stag.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Gonzalez said.
Salt Lake City has now lost 4 straight.
