Widger Slugs Stag to 6-5 Win
|
Chris Widger knocked in 4 runs to help Portland beat Salt Lake City, 6-5. Widger produced 1 single and 2 home runs. Mike Hartley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 11 save opportunities. Salt Lake City has now lost 5 consecutive games.
The Stag used some clutch hitting to beat the Buzz, a good example being the at-bat of Wes Chamberlain in the bottom of the eighth. With two down, Chamberlain gave his team the lead, 6-5, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Widger.
