The Tucson Tarantulas bested the Idaho Falls Chukars by a score of 7-3, with third baseman Dave Magadan getting the main credit. On the day, Magadan was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Tarantulas. Tucson reliever Jeff Shaw picked up the win, bumping his record to 6-2. Ralph Citarella was collared with the loss. With the win over Idaho Falls, the Tarantulas improved to 53-62.

Tucson used the bat of Mark Whiten to get the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tarantulas ahead, 7-3. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Whiten.
