|
Tacoma withstood an impressive performance by Spokane catcher Mark Dalesandro to defeat the River Rats, 9-8, at Foxes Ballpark. Dalesandro was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Tony Fossas notched his 15th save in 20 chances. Tacoma, at 52-62, occupies 4th place in the Pacific West.
The Rainiers used some clutch hitting to beat the River Rats, a good example being the at-bat of Eric Young in the top of the eighth. With two down, Young gave his team the lead, 9-8, when he hit a 3-run home run.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Tacoma manager .
